Why a Series?
As a teenager I was a huge fan of reading series books - the chance to become
immersed in another character that has to overcome fears, obstacles and everyday
anxieties of being a teen - made it easy to relate to and was a great escape! I
wanted to develop a group of characters that my audience can relate to; learn from
and grow up with - also some of the secondary characters become more developed
as the series continues.
The Heroine
The heroine - Julie Leeds - is a 13-year-old going on 25 techno-nerd who has
attracted some interesting characters after she wins a futuristic, eco car named
Jett. As her world changes overnight, she is faced with many challenges and new
realities. I think a majority of pre-teens and teens will be able to relate to some of
her growing pains and enjoy her adventures.
The Car
Jett is a futuristic sports car that was created by PJ Riley, an Australian engineer,
and is the result of creative engineering and advanced environmental technology. In
partnership with a U.S. car company, Jett becomes a prototype in interacting with
humans and detecting environmental changes.
